Eat Right

Eating healthily means that you'll be properly fuelled for whatever sport you want to play. And it also means that you'll look good and feel great.

Eat right: the basics

What you need is a balanced diet. This means that you should eat different kinds of food in different proportions. Experts have divided up all the different kinds of foods into 5 food groups, which are:

  • Carbohydrates - bread, pasta and rice, etc
  • Fruit and Vegetables,
  • Protein - meat, fish, beans, soya, eggs, etc
  • Dairy products - milk and cheese, etc
  • Fats - butter, sugars, maple syrup or glucose, etc

Eating from each food group in the right proportion means you'll get a balanced diet. Most of us eat too much fat and not enough fruit and veg, so make sure that you get it right.
